The Bundaberg Writers’ Club was founded to create a place where people interested in writing could meet to practise their craft, to solve problems, and to try out ideas.
Since the club’s establishment, members have been actively involved in the community – presenting literary events like the annual WriteFest, supporting young writers with the YOW awards etc.
The Bundaberg Poets Society was formed by Bundaberg Writers’ Club members interested in bush poetry. The annual Bundy Muster conducted by the Bundaberg Poets Society was initiated by the Bundaberg Writers’ Club.
The Club encourages young local writers. The Young Oz Writers Short Story competition is now entering its seventh year and attracts upwards of one hundred and fifty entries annually.
Each year the Club hosts WriteFest, an opportunity for regional writers to meet with and learn from industry professionals at the top of their field.
The Club also conducts a biennial Short Story Competition.
Long Distance Members Welcome: The Club’s long distance members come from Tasmania, NSW, Miriam Vale, Townsville, Murgon, and Central Western Queensland.
